This huge black and white is of a middle-aged woman with a rather severe look on her face. Though there is no date or identification written on it that I could find, my guess is that its early 20th century based on what she's wearing, the fact that it's black and white, and the fact that a few elements of her clothing have been colored in with pastels to add a bit of interest to the photograph. Her hair is pulled back tightly and she looks seriously past the person taking the picture. Her high-necked dress buttons down the front and has a slight ruffle around the top of the neck. Two white flowers have been colored in on her lapel along the buttons with some green leaf detail as well. Around the edges of the oval painting the picture fades into a dark vignette.

The photograph is framed in an oval wooden frame. There is a cardboard backing that has warped over time but still holds the picture in place and seems to have protected the photo from damage. There is also a wire across the back that attaches to a screw on each side to hang up the photo. The glass across the front is rounded.

There is some damage to both the photograph and the frame itself. The photo has some spots missing from primarily the area around the face. The frame has a chunk missing out of the base of the frame and a few pieces around the edge.

The frame measures approximately 25 X 19 inches. With the glass it's perhaps 1-1.5 inches though with the deepest part being at the middle makes it a bit difficult to get an accurate measurement.
